VAMA – Bal Mahila Vikas Samiti is a voluntary organisation with a vision to establish an equitable society where there is no discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion and caste and which provides equal social, economic and political opportunities to all.
Founded in 1988, for over three decades VAMA is creating awareness about the issues being faced by the general public in rural settings. It is assiduously working for betterment of lives of rural disadvantaged communities in an area which is considered to be ‘developed’ by the planners of the country and the state. It has several achievements to its credit.
VAMA feels that an organisation must have an active and resourceful citizen base for making a difference. As resources with VAMA are very limited, the role of volunteerism comes in handy. Several volunteers have played important and critical roles in the past in furthering the cause that VAMA espouses for. These volunteers have come from diverse backgrounds. For all of them association with VAMA has been an enriching experience. VAMA always maintains communication with the volunteers who have contributed to the organisation.
Anyone can volunteer for VAMA. It is indeed immaterial if a prospective volunteer is a student, a teacher, a professional, a social scientist, or a housewife. Education or degree of prospective volunteer is also immaterial. What matters is the presence of the spirit of volunteerism in the person.
